Rope, Connection, and Collective Learning

OlyRope was founded by ComplexiT (T/they/she), a queer, femme-presenting nonbinary rope nerd, bottom-leaning switch, and self-suspender. After discovering rope in October 2024 and having their mind thoroughly blown 🤯🪢, rope quickly revealed itself as far more than a passing curiosity.

Partnered tying can be a sensual, connective experience with friends or romantic partners. Self-tying opens an entirely different door — into self-exploration, self-mastery, and self-love. Both can be powerful forms of adult sensory play, engaging deep pressure, vestibular, and proprioceptive systems alongside the familiar five senses.

Driven by that excitement, ComplexiT dove in — taking private and group lessons, attending workshops and events in the Bay Area with long-distance partner XTCatalyst (who co-facilitates when he’s in town), and supplementing hands-on learning with online study and independent practice.

OlyRope exists to share that joy of learning in a way that feels collaborative rather than hierarchical. Facilitation is intentionally peer-led, and many techniques are demonstrated as self-ties so that folks without partners have concrete, empowering ways to participate. The goal isn’t to be the authority—it’s to cultivate a space where learning from each other feels natural, comfortable, and encouraged.
